There is something special about picking and working with flowers and foliage through the seasons. We are fortunate in the UK to have year round supplies of fresh flowers and foliage, with many growers in Somerset. This means that flowers do not need to travel far, are fresh and last longer, as well as being mindful of flowers not travelling thousands of air miles.
Each season has its own individual feel, depth of colours and mood. From the fresh colours of spring; Daffodils, Tulips, Fritillaries, Lily of the Valley and Ranunculus. In Summer, the wonder of rich colours, texture, and abundance, including Roses, Cosmos, Delphiniums, Rudbeckia, Sweet peas and many more.
Autumn brings Sunflowers, Dahlias, Chrysanthamums, changing leaves, grasses and rich colours.
Winter turns to evergreens for foliage, for wreaths, winter berries for colour, and whites from Hellebores and Narcissi. I include dried Honesty, dried Dahlias and many more to give both texture and visual interest.
I like to work with the seasons, in a down to earth and sustainable way, using natural compostable aides where ever possible and no foam.
As the seasons bring differing foliage and flowers, it also affects the arrangements and requests clients ask for or need. Whether it be Dinner Table scapes, Special Valentine arrangements, Summer Garden Parties or Christmas Wreaths.
I will always help with advice on seasonality and whats available. If I don’t have a particular flower, foliage, or colour, I will source from a grower nearby to fulfil a clients wishes, if possible. Every arrangement is an individual with the finest British flowers, where ever possible and arranged especially for you and your needs.
I have arranged flowers for a chef who loves natural herbs, and fragrant smells for cooking, and foraging from the countryside. I have made a special arrangement for a lady who loved red for her special Birthday and found the bowl to go with the flowers. It is also a real privilege to celebrate someones life, with a bowl of flowers reflecting them and their joy in the garden. Flowers say so much to people through happy and difficult times, and bring memories of past times.
