Individual & Bespoke Arrangements
As a potter and artist, I have always loved a challenge and to be able to create an individual piece with a twist. The same applies to flowers, whether it is a quirky bowl, a special stem, foliage, dried grasses or a beautiful flower. Flowers can express emotions and connections. These can be displayed in vessels personal to a client, or loved one. An arrangement can also be created with particular flowers with beautiful smell, poignant colours or that evoke a particular memory. A particular client of mine asked for a bowl arrangement for her daughter’s 18th birthday; Peonies evoked special memories of her grandmother; Scottish thistle to represent her daughters’s birthplace; stocks for beautiful scent, and all to represent the strong mother/daughter bond.
Having lived in Japan, where I trained as a potter, I am fascinated by ikebana and its thoughtful placing, simplicity and beauty, and a love of nature. In France the fields of Sunflowers, in Australia the smell of eucalyptus, and arid colours of soil, bark, and vivid blue skies. Equally, flowers can celebrate a person, their character and the joys of their life like the arrangement below. These flowers are from the vegetable garden - nasturtiums, runner beans, marigolds, and even chard leaves. If you choose something a little bit different, maybe a request that reflects a loved one, whom you wish to cherish or celebrate, have a gallery that needs flowers to reflect the art, or a special office celebration, I relish the challenge to reflect this in a floral arrangement.
